Scalplook lookout

The yellow is from the Tamarack trees, one word beautiful!

Scalplock lookout was the destination on October 26 it was a perfect day. When we started the day it was 32, but by the time we reached the lookout it was a balmy 60 degrees. Then on  Sunday it snowed and was in the 20s only in Montana.

The First Day of Fall

On the first day of fall, September 22,  a group of five of us hiked to Mt. Brown Lookout. What an amazing way to spend the first day of fall.

History lesson

Montana became a territory in 1864

I had some other photos I wanted to share like the outside of the church but I am challenge and can not get them to load correctly.

Visited the St. Ignatius Mission in St. Ignatius, Montana. The catholic church has had a strong influence in Montana especially on Indian reservations. The Jesuit Priest came out to minister to the Native American population shortly after Lewis and Clark made there trip in 1804 -1806

Note the cook who had no formal training did the paintings! There is a church in Missoula, Montana that he also did the painting in. The church has a wonderful feel when you are inside,  I imagine on a winter day would feel bright and warm.

The Price for warm weather

The forecast for today is a high of 50! Wonderful,  it has been melting all weekend. This is what it takes for it to warm up around here, on Saturday for example we had a concisest wind of 44 miles an hour with gust to 75. This was mild compared to 34 miles to the west where the gusts were 95 miles an hour. The wind derailed a train and tore the side off a house to mention a couple things. Just wanted you to know when I am complaining about the wind the wind is truly blowing. On a happy note this morning when I walked NO wind! Happy Day. It is starting to blow now but in a normal way.
Happy Valentines Day!

Day off in Glacier Park

I took a day off in the middle of the week and went hiking. I advice everyone to do this. We hiked to Piegan Pass and across to Many Glacier hotel. Perfect day.

Good time with Good friends

Camp Mak-A-Dream is a camp for kids and others who are dealing from cancer. Our daughter worked and volunteered there for 3 summers,  that is how we became familiar with camp. There was a fishing tournament held as a fund raiser for camp so we went, and had friends join us. I feel so blessed to still be friends with someone I have know since first grade. These friends where also high school sweethearts and are still married after 30 years. Wow
